Description

JAV 115 Great Organs of America: Modern Landmarks, Volume 2 — Diane Meredith Belcher

The bold sounds of the Glatter-Götz/Rosales organ at Claremont United Church of Christ, Claremont, California are showcased in two new American works. Timothy Tikker’s lively "Tiento de Batalla sobre la Balletto del Granduca" was commissioned by Manuel Rosales for this organ, and displays its classic reed colors to good effect. In contrast, Lee Hoiby’s "Rock Valley Narrative," an expansive free-form work, exhibits the organ’s foundation tones and expressive capacity. Diane Meredith Belcher demonstrates her versatility as well as that of the instrument, traversing the repertoire from Bach and Balbastre to Franck and Vierne.
