In 2004 the University of Notre Dame completed the Marie P. DeBartolo Center for the Performing Arts. This complex consists of five performing spaces, among them a 900 seat concert hall and a smaller 90 seat hall, the Chris and Anne Reyes Organ and Choral Hall. It is in the latter hall that the noted American organbuilder, Paul Fritts, built for the University of Notre Dame his Opus 24. The organ was designed after north German Baroque organs of Bach's time. The all important acoustics of the room were designed for the organ and are thrilling. Craig Cramer, Professor of Organ at Notre Dame, plays a varied program to show off all of the color potential of this instrument. The CD comes with an extensive booklet containing an interview with Craig Cramer, notes on the organ by Paul Fritts, notes on the music and an essay in photographs of how organ pipes are made, as well as the interior workings of a tracker organ.
