Ken Cowan Surround Sound CD at First Baptist Jackson

Ken Cowan is one of the most outstanding American concert organists of our time. He recently recorded a surround sound CD of Symphonic Organ Literature on the 155 rank Quimby Pipe Organ at First Baptist Jackson. This organ has 9052 pipes, four 32' ranks and no digital pipe sounds. The organ is a modern symphonic pipe organ for the 21st century. This CD was produced and recorded by Christoph Frommen in SACD Surround Sound. Surround Sound Recording is the ultimate in audio technology which creates extraordinary sonic definition and reproduction of the room ambiance.

Included in the 40 page booklet that accompanies the CD is an interview with Ken Cowan about how he got interested in the organ, his early studies, and his current concert and teaching careers. Also an article about Michael Quimby and the building of this pipe organ and his tonal philosophy. A photo essay takes you to the recording sessions at First Baptist Jackson.

This disc will play on a standard CD player, but an SACD player is needed to hear it in Surround Sound. These CDs are considerablely more expensive to record, master and manufacture, this is the reason for the higher price. The the audio results are out of this world
